Careers

The employment of dental assistants is projected to grow 11 percent from 2020 to 2030, faster than the average for all occupations.

About 44,000 openings for dental assistants are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Many of those openings are expected to result from the need to replace workers who transfer to different occupations or exit the labor force, such as to retire. (www.bls.gov)

On the Road to Success

I want to take a moment and share my excitement and praise for the Dental Assisting Program that is being offered at YCCC. The dental field is in desperate need of dental assistants, and this need only continues to
grow (especially in Maine)!

I was honored for the opportunity to interview and connect with these students. Each one demonstrated exceptional traits that I look for when hiring for our practices. Their knowledge, professionalism, personality, and enthusiasm was immediately apparent. This program immediately opens doors for a career within the field and equips them with foundational and technical skills they can apply right away. The opportunity to take the RHS exam will give them a huge advantage when applying for a position. The insight and connections that Stacey is able to provide them are unique and invaluable. I have not seen this from any other assisting program.

On behalf of myself and my doctors, thank you for offering this opportunity to students in the Southern Maine area. I know we will see a lasting impact on the dental profession for years to come because of it and I hope that it continues to be offered.
